THE BARN ARTS COLLECTIVE creates and encourages community through the practice and presentation of live arts events.
The organization has hosted over four hundred artists in Bass Harbor, Maine since 2008.
Each artist has come for a residency to work in the Barn on a new performance piece in mediums including theater, dance, music, opera, clown, lecture, puppetry, film, comedy, durational art and many interdisciplinary combinations.
The projects that the collective takes on are determined by the people working on them – a number of artists from a variety of mediums that remains in flux each year as individuals consider the feasibility of working for a period of time on an island in Maine.
